The claim

This meme claims that a deathbed photo of Frida Kahlo de Rivera (famous Mexican artist, social activist, Chicano Movement icon, and communist), has been deliberately suppressed by mainstream search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo, in order to conceal Kahl’s membership of the Mexican Communist Party.

The meme’s claim that the alleged suppression is “A brief example of how controlled our access to information really is”, is ironic given that the meme was created to misrepresent facts. The meme is literally communist propaganda.

The facts

The reality is that typing “Frida deathbed” into Google immediately provides a number of photos of this scene, with the communist hammer and sickle clearly visible on Kahlo’s clothing. Here are examples of the images Google returns.

Google also returns an image of Kahlo painting the hammer and sickle on her clothing while in her bed.

Google also returns an image of a painting depicting the deathbed scene, with the hammer and sickle prominently visible.
